my {mess}age

Have you ever heard the saying that God uses your mess to become your message? Well, it turns out it isn’t just a cutesy phrase (like the Christian version of “bless your heart”) that we tell people to make them feel better when they are going through a hard time. If you know me or follow me on social media, then you likely think that I am a gym rat and a running shoe junkie. While that may be somewhat true, what you don’t know is the story behind my passion, the struggles I have faced and why (and how) I make my health a priority.

In July 2018, God planted a seed in my heart about sharing my passion for fitness, health and wellness—but I had no clue what His intention was. Over the next 12 months, I was praying and searching for answers about what that seed was supposed to grow into and how I could cultivate it to fulfill His purpose. Why would He choose ME? I don’t have all the answers. I certainly don’t have it all together. I’m a mess!

After one tiny seed and a whole lot of prayers, here I am — me and all my hot mess — choosing to be vulnerable and start sharing my {mess}age with you. Because odds are you’re struggling with something you’re too ashamed to admit because everyone else on Instagram looks like they have it all together. As women, we are constantly flooded with everyone else’s highlight reel about what it means to be healthy and fit. While in our own reality, we are constantly thrown multiple balls and expected to juggle ALL THE THINGS, all while maintaining our health and sanity. It’s no wonder that when we compare everyone else’s highlight reel to our own life, we come up short every single time.

But here’s the real truth: Even if someone appears to have mastered the art of fitting a workout into their daily routine and eating clean foods, it doesn’t mean they are WELL. That is a truth that I have learned the hard way. So if you want to hear more about my {mess}age, I invite you to join me on this journey to figuring out how to FIT health and wellness into your life WITH GRIT + GRACE.
